Peewee Select, 2018-2019, SEL (Centre Wellington Minor Hockey)

Awesome hockey game tonight with the Fusion Peewee Select team. Suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Oakville in our previous contest. But tonight was another story. 4-1 victory vs Oakville! The kids played fantastic and Zach back stopped them with a bunch of clutch saves! Had to give out 3 game pucks afterwards. One to Zach in net, one to Jacob Pearson for the forwards and another to Harmon MacDonald for the defensive core! A complete 200 ft game fellas, very well done! #proudcoach P.S. Fantastic weekend of hockey!  Second place finish is nothing to hang our heads over. Use any disappointment or frustration over finishing second as fuel towards taking your game to the next level.  Continued efforts at practice, applying new skills to your game and playing as a Team will ensure future success and enjoyment!  I'm extremely proud of these kids and I love how they are evolving to the "We" not "Me" mentality.  Keep up the great work fellas! What can I say, the kids took what they learned from Saturday's game against Waterloo and ran with it!  Effectively putting the puck deep into the offensive zone, winning puck battles down low, and getting that puck out front into Brantford's kitchen!  Nicely done fellas!  The all important back checking was fantastic!  Everyone played a great 200ft game, meaning on offence and defence!

Our second game of the season was against Waterloo, and it served as a bit of a wake up call.  The kids figured out by the end of the game, that trying to carry the puck deep into the offensive zone is much more difficult at this level.  That being said, they battled hard and never gave up.  You can always learn more from a loss than a win, now they just need to apply this knowledge moving forward.  Keep up the efforts fellas! Fantastic hockey game right out of the gate!  The kids battled hard against a very well Coached Kitchener team.  We were stuck in our own end for a good chunk of the second period, but with some solid goaltending and hard fought puck battles the kids were able to hold Kitchener at bay.  We have some work to do at practice, regarding defensive zone play & positioning, but for our first game of the season, I'm impressed.  Keep up the effort kids, and congrats for that hard fought tie!
